Our Therapist

BRTWC founder woman cross-armed

 Hi! I’m Stella Ukairo

Licensed Psychotherapist and Founder of Be Renewed Therapy and Wellness Center

I am a mental health advocate who’s passionate about helping people explore and make sense of their lives. I enjoy working with my clients to find freedom from the cycle of anxiety, depression, pattern of poor choices, broken relationships, low confidence, indeed from anything that blocks them from living the lives that they choose.

I wasn’t always a therapist. My reflective and observant nature as a child sparked a curiosity in the world around me. As a child who lived and studied in three distinct cultures (England, Nigeria, and the United States), there was much to be curious about. This natural curiosity and passion for learning later opened the career paths of librarianship, information technology and a mid-life career change to clinical social work, which is fulfilling my passion for understanding the complexities of the human mind and the influences of culture, faith, system inequities, and how they ultimately affect a person’s wellbeing.

For the past several years, I have worked in a variety of settings, including outpatient, schools, residential treatment centers and now in telehealth. I am experienced in utilizing cognitive therapies and I know from my own path to wellness, the importance of taking a holistic approach to heal the mind, body and soul.

In my journey, faith was and continues to be an integral path to wellness and you can find me at the intersection of faith and mental health, honoring your unique experience and dignity.

My Approach

I work with adults who want to explore and understand the impact of early childhood or traumatic experiences and how those experiences could be contributing to anxiety, depression, low self esteem, as well as potentially hindering them from accomplishing their life goals or the purpose God has for their life. I work collaboratively with you to make sure that the services I provide are customized to your needs, healing and personal growth.

My experience includes:

  • Working with adults from all backgrounds
  • Outpatient, community, residential and school based settings
  • Integrating innovative and evidence-based practice

My qualifications and training:

  • Masters in Clinical Social Work (Boston College)
  • Licensed Psychotherapist (LICSW) – Massachussetts/121540
  • Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

I  believe that every aspect of our being – body, mind, and soul – plays a pivotal role in our ability to flourish to our maximum potential.

Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychological therapy that’s been proven to reduce the symptoms of post traumatic stress (PTSD).

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is based on the concept that our thoughts, feelings and physical sensations and actions are interconnected.

A Certified Clinical Trauma  Professional (CCTP) has advanced training in the specific and unique needs of clients who have experienced trauma.
