Frequently Asked Questions
Is therapy right for me?
Some people think that therapy is only for those who are “seriously troubled or disturbed.” This is a myth. In fact many of us are living very stressful lives with so many demands made on our time – work, family, relationships, school. All the day to day stuff we have to deal with can become overwhelming. It’s not all in our heads. Stress is real and creates a physiological response in our bodies.
Therapy can be an invaluable tool to help you overcome difficult emotions, solve problems, reduce stress levels, improve your self esteem and provide you with the additional support you need to live your best authentic life. Although not everyone needs therapy, many of us could benefit from having it.
I can handle my own problems, do I need therapy?
It depends. There are problems we can handle on our own. However, if you find yourself going round and round in circles, repeating the same thought processes and old patterns of behavior or repeatedly finding yourself in bad relationships time and time again, it could be a sign that you are stuck and might need the help of a neutral third party such as a therapist to help you sort through your pattern of thoughts, feelings and behavior.
Therapy is a unique opportunity to help you gain clarity with the potential to resolve your problems faster.
Can I see you in person?
Be Renewed Therapy and Wellness Center is a 100% telehealth practice which means we only provide therapy online. Research has shown that online therapy is just as effective as in person psychotherapy.
Online therapy allows you more flexability and convenience. No more wasted time traveling back and forth to your therapist office especially in poor weather. You can access therapy from the comfort of your home while saving time, energy and money.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. we currently accept Aetna, United Healthcare, Harvard Pilgrim, Optum and Oxford Health through Alma who handles the insurance eligibility verification and all payments.
Our self pay/out of pocket rates is $130 for a 30-minute session and $150 for 50 minutes.
You don't have my insurance listed, can I still see you?
Yes. Several of our clients are self-pay clients which means they pay out of pocket fees.
Our self pay/out of pocket rate is $130 for a 30-minute session and $150 for 50 minutes.
What is your cancellation policy?
Clients can cancel or reschedule an appointment anytime, if they provide at least 24 hours’ notice. When you miss or cancel an appointment without giving a minimum of 24 hours advance notice the full session fee will be charged. This means that if an appointment is scheduled for 3:00 pm on a Tuesday, notice must be given by 3:00 pm on Monday at the latest.
You can cancel your appointment by calling, texting, or emailing us. If you are more than 10 minutes late to your appointment time, it will be treated as a late cancellation. It’s important to remember that insurance will not pay for missed appointments, so you will be responsible for the full fee.
The only time we will waive this fee is in the event of serious or contagious illness or extreme weather or other unavoidable circumstance.
We trust that our clients will understand that our cancellation policy is not a penalty or a punishment. When a session is cancelled without adequate notice, we are unable to fill this time slot by offering it to someone on the wait list or who has a clinical emergency. We are also not able to bill your insurance company for sessions that are not kept.
If you miss three scheduled appointments within a three-month time period, the therapeutic relationship may be terminated and we can refer you to other practices that may be more suitable for you.
What is online therapy like?
Therapy can sound intimidating but it is simply a conversation between you and your therapist about the things that stress you out. It is a safe space where you talk about any issues, problems, concerns or relationships that are bothering you or preventing you from living your best life. With online therapy, this conversation takes place via video call online so that you don’t waste time travelling especially in poor weather conditions. You access therapy while saving time, energy and money.
The first couple of conversations “sessions” often consist of you sharing in confidence the concerns and issues that bother you. This will allow your therapist to understand you as a person and use their expertise to work with you to formulate a plan of action (also called a treatment plan). Once the plan has been created, each subsequent session is geared towards solving a problem, gaining skills or insights. During therapy sessions you are invited and encouraged to speak openly and honestly. The therapist will listen to understand you without interrupting, without judgement and with compassion.
Is therapy confidential?
Confidentiality is one of the keystones of therapy and all therapists are bound by law and ethics to maintain client confidentiality to the best of their ability. However, there are a few exceptions where the therapist may be obligated to notify appropriate authorities to ensure their client’s safety and the safety of others such as in cases of abuse, exploitation or neglect of children, the elderly or people with disabilities.
Your therapist will discuss the detailed guidelines and rules of confidentiality in therapy in your first session.
